Sunburst Shutters was founded in the early '70s in Phoenix, AZ, by people who knew they could make a better shutter than any other in America.

The ambition to be the best shutter company has changed every aspect of the window treatment business. Sunburst provided an in-home consultation where design professionals brought samples into a customer’s house to show them the steps in selecting the best window treatment product. On top of that, Sunburst set out to hire sales staff that were respectful and friendly – and, at the same time, skilled and helpful. Homeowners across the nation fell in love with Sunburst Shutters at first sight.

In the '70s, draperies and blinds were the standard window treatments in most homes. That’s when Sunburst Shutters showed clients a longer lasting and energy-efficient window treatment: plantation shutters. 

Originally, the company offered wood shutters only. But it became evident fast that Sunburst should craft the ultimate shutter – one that provides utmost energy efficiency, and looks as elegant 20 years from now as the day you purchased it. After much research, sampling, and testing, Sunburst announced the creation of Polywood Shutters. 

Once Sunburst offered the premium shutters on the market, they grew extensively, opening stores across America. In 2008, Sunburst Shutters expanded its collection into blinds, shades, draperies, and window film – and changed its name to Sunburst Shutters & Window Fashions.
